Communication Writing

     Today I listened to 'ENW in Pompeii' in English News Weekly. In this podcast, ENW were talking about Pompeii, a antient city where was destroyed by the eruption of a volcano.      ENW team went to Rome to visit the ruins of Pompeii. They first arrived at a small town of Sorrento to have breakfast. After an hour, they leave the town to continue their journey to Pompeii. After arrived at Pompeii, they were worried about the fact that the Mt Vesuvius is still an active volcano. This mountain is just the volcano that destroyed Pompeii about 2000 years ago. Before had been destroyed, Pompeii was a very large city in Rome that had held about 20,000 people. However it buried in the volcanic ashes on that October day in 79AD.       After I listened to this Podcast, I was surprised at the fact that The word 'volcano' was came from the eruption of the Mt. Vesuvius! I want to visit this ruins someday.

     Last Friday, the tern end examinations finally finished. Then, I went to my friend's house to enjoy nabe , food cooked in a pot at the table, with some students of Biology department which I belong to.      We bought some meat, vegetables, and Tofu to make nabe. The hot nabe warmed our chilled bodies. I felt that nabe is a very efficient food because they don't need any difficult method to make and also we can eat a lot of kinds of foodstuff by eating nabe .      After finished eating nabe , we played Super Smash Bros together. It was very exciting to play it with friends.      I really felt that having friend to do these things will improve our college life very much. I hope we can go somewhere freely as soon as possible.    

     Few days ago, I found an interesting news on Twitter. It said that two new species of cockroach were found in the Nansei Islands. It has been 35 years since the last time the new kind of cockroach were found. I saw the pictures of there cockroach and feel they are beautiful for cockroach. They have orange color belt pattern on their wings. Their body is a little roundish and looks cute.(There are difference among individuals.)      The discovery of new kind is a good thing for the development of science, but some people feel it is not so good because cockroach is recognized as the harmful insect. However, almost every kinds of cockroach live in nature and they have an important role as decomposer and there are only few kinds of cockroach that are harmful. I want more people to understand this fact.        

     This week, we have a homework to write a research paper about whatever we want to write.       I'm a student of the science faculty, so I'm going to write about something about science. In the last class, I listened to a Podcast about an animal that is thought to have been extinct. Also, I'm interested in the evolution of life, so I'm going to write about it too.      It is enjoyable to write about what I'm interested in. It also develop my writing ability and increase my knowledge of scientific English terms.     By the way, I have to find someone will check my research paper, but there are no student of the faculty of Biology like me in the class, so I have no connection with other member to ask them to check it...     I hope my research paper will be checked by next Monday.   

    Today I listened to "Tasmanian Tiger Riddle" in English News weekly. In this Podcast, people were talking about Tasmanian Tiger's dead or arrive.     Tasmanian Tiger is a kind of marsupial that was thought to have extinct. However, some people lingering belief that they are still arrive. A Tasmanian told that he saw a Tasmanian Tiger near to his home. Not only him, some farmers, and tourists claimed to have seen animal.     There are some examples that the species who were believe to have extinct have been found such as The Night Parrot and Lead beater's Possum, so maybe The Tasmanian Tiger is really arrive.

    Today I listened to a podcast called "ENW...on Easter Island!. They talked about the trip to the Easter Island and the history of the Island.     Easter Island is a small Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The ENW team stayed at a Glamping site. They could saw amazing view of the Pacific Ocean.     This Island is famous for the Moai statues. There are about 887 statues dotted across the Island. These statues were crafted between 1250 to 1500 years ago. About 95% of 887 Moai statues were founded in the quarry at Rano Raraku. There does remain a lot of questions about Moai. For example, why they were made and who do they depict.     ENW team paid US$90 for a 3.5 hour stargazing tour at the end of their trip. They could see Mar's red surface and the perfect clarity of Saturn's rings. They were very satisfied.      After I listened at this Podcast, I felt like to visit the Island someday. 

     I was very busy last week.     First, I have to prepare for midterm tests of Inorganic Chemistry and Biochemistry. Especially, Inorganic Chemistry is very difficult to understand because it contains the theory of Physics. I'm not good at Physics so I have to review my notebook many times. There are also many things to remember to solve the questions of Biochemistry. I hope I could done my best at these tests.     Second, I have many homework. For example, the reports of Chemical experiment and Biological experiment, English terms of Biology, the homework of Programing and so on. Fortunately, I could finish all of them by the dead line but they made me very tired.     This week, I can relax than last week so I want to sleep a lot, play games, and join the club activity.

    The October 30th was Halloween. What did you do?     I played some events in the game.      For example, there was a Halloween Fest in "Splatoon2", a shooting game of Nintendo. The topics of this fest was " Which do you choose? Trick or Treat". Players choose either Trick team or Treat team and play Turf War as the member of the team.(I chose the Trick team, but we lose this time…. )     Also, there was a Halloween event in the "Animal Crossing : New Horizons". Players wear some Halloween costumes, gather cyanides and furnishings of Halloween.     It was hard to have some Halloween festival with my friends this year, so I hope we can do it in 2021.
